A Little More About Us

The attorneys of Hood & Lay focus our practice on protecting Alabama consumers. Our office is conveniently located on Birmingham’s Southside with free parking. Appointments are available to meet your work schedule, including late evening appointments. The attorneys of Hood & Lay are lawyers for the consumers, with extensive trial experience and a reputation for getting results in the cases we handle. While a majority of our practice involves handling disputes with mortgage companies and their agents, we are also experienced in representing Alabama consumers in a variety of other consumer issues such as housing issues, creditor harassment, illegal debt collection practices, and identify theft.

In addition, through our years of practicing law we have experience representing Alabama consumers that have suffered personal injuries caused by the wrongs of others, and those who have suffered work place injuries. You will appreciate the wide level of legal experience and knowledge we possess, as well as our professionalism and the level of service and respect you will receive as our client.

Your Lawyers

Kenneth Lay

I am a graduate of the University of Alabama Law School. Member of BBA and Alabama Bar Association. I was voted one of the Top Appellate Attorneys in Birmingham for 2012. Since becoming a member of the Alabama bar in 1992,I have been fighting for the rights of average people. My entire legal career has been built on being an advocate of people. Whether defending a consumer, protecting a tenant, or stopping creditor abuse, my goal is to enforce the rights of average Alabama families. In our firm, you have a friend you can rely on in protecting your rights.

Rhonda Hood

I am an Alabama consumer attorney, and an active member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates, that has extensive experience in consumer law including creditor abuse, mortgage litigation, personal injury cases and workers’ compensation. I was voted one of the Top Consumer Attorneys in Birmingham for 2012. I have been called the Birmingham “Robin Hood” of foreclosure defense by my colleagues and friends. I have been practicing since 1996 and have gained litigation experience in state court, federal district court and bankruptcy court.

Experience and knowledge

We have over 36 years of combined experience assisting consumers with many types of legal issues. Our legal careers have lead us to experience assisting clients with a variety of cases in civil court. We focus on consumer protection issues, fighting for those whose have been wronged or injured by banks, mortgage companies, credit card companies and others. We have obtained verdicts and settlements on behalf of our clients, and where justice required, taken the cases up on appeal to the Alabama appellate courts.
